Summary
(Not exceeding 300 words, outcomes/results/impact)

The activities of the Chair have been positively reflected in the cooperation with the Finnish National Commission of Unesco, UNESCO-UNEVOC cooperation, UNESCO-IITE cooperation and research work with the European Commission and the Alliance of Civilizations movement of the United Nations.

The Chair has been globally visible with 8 keynote speeches in Brazil, Europe, and Russia. The cooperation with other Unesco Chairs in China, Spain, Russia, and Brazil are developing very actively. The Chair was instrumental for the creation of the UNESCO Chair in technical and Vocational Education and Training and Lifelong Learning in the Hong Kong Institute of Education.

The Chair has emphasized global cooperation in ICT for vocational education and training as well as the importance of new literacies for the 21st century. The research agenda has included work on media literacy and new humanism with the support of Unesco Institute of Technology for Education in Moscow .

Action aimed at obtaining a stable permanent status of the Chair/Network in the structure of the Institution
 
Short and medium term: The UNESCO Chair has a permanent status in the Faculty of Education, University of Tampere. The Research Centre for Vocational Education was given the status of National UNESCO-UNEVOC Centre in 2006.

Long term: Institutionalizing the Global University System (GUS) and promoting UNESCO-UNEVOC training and research activities to become an international research and educational centre
