Professor Tapio Varis's annual Unesco ChairReports
The
activities of the Chair have been positively reflected in the
cooperation with the Finnish National Commission of Unesco,
UNESCO-UNEVOC cooperation, UNESCO-IITE cooperation and research work
with the European Commission and the Alliance of Civilizations movement
of the United Nations.
The Chair has been globally
visible with more than 20 keynote speeches in Brazil, Europe, United
Arab Emirates, Russia, and China.
The Chair has emphasized
global e-learning and media literacy because of the topicality and
importance of media education as part of citizenship skills and the
problems encountered in its realization. Another issue has been
cultural dialogue and cooperation with the Alliance of Civilizations
movement created by the United Nations. The United Nations AoC movement
and the European Commission uses the Chair in media literacy education.
